The progressive comparison of Total Lots, Bales and Weight tested for July 2024 to June 2025 compared with the same period last season are:
-12.8%, -11.9% and -11.7% respectively.
AWTA Ltd has tested 295.4 mkg (million kilograms) this season compared with 334.7 mkg for the equivalent period last season.
With the establishment of a major wool warehouse in Victoria during 2024 a sizable proportion of the wool produced in the States of South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland is transported to Victoria for sampling and storage. The Key Test Data Report provides data based on the State where bales were sampled for testing and, because of the volume of wool shipped interstate for sampling and storage, it is no longer a reliable indicator of wool production trends in States or locations.
From 1 July 2025 AWTA has made publicaly available a report based on Wool Statistical Area of production which will provide a more reliable indictator of wool production trends in each Australian State. This report can be accessed using the link below:
