Electronic Certificates

AWTA will be introducing Electronic Certificates in season 2010/11 that are delivered as PDF files via email and will be provided free of charge. Clients can take up this service at any time simply by contacting AWTA (there are no contracts or agreements required).

Electronic Certificates can be obtained:

  • Automatically as part of our standard Presale Testing services;
  • Automatically through our Post-Sale Printing service;
  • Automatically from the processing of Combined Certificate or OML requests;
  • From our website using the new Online Verification facility; or
  • By phone, fax or email request directly to AWTA.

The benefits of this new service are that:

  • Certificates or Reports are emailed direct to the owner as soon as they are available, eliminating  the delays with the delivery of hard-copy documents;
  • Digital security measures protect the Certificates and guard against fraudulent activity;
  • Bona fide owners can check the validity of a Certificate and receive a PDF copy directly from AWTA’s website; and
  • The processing of shipping and banking documents may become more streamlined.

Presale Certificates and Reports

The format of the documents is identical to that of the printed Certificate and includes multiple copies.  A separate PDF file will be sent for each Certificate.  An example of an electronic Yield & Micron Presale Certificate is shown below. More samples can be downloaded from our website at: www.awta.com.au/Our_Services/Electronic Certificates

Post Sale Printing of Certificates

Electronic Certificates are obtained automatically by Buyers as part of our Post-Sale Printing service.  After each sale, purchaser’s details are updated in our database and Certificates printed. Buyers can request Certificates be emailed rather than printed and the service is provided free of change.  Please contact AWTA to make arrangements.

Combination Certificates & Objectively Matched Lots

Exporters can request electronic copies of Combination and OML Certificates. Completed Certificates can be emailed to the Exporter as soon as they have been processed.  Exporters should contact AWTA and make arrangements to receive them.

To assist with any transitional issues and to allow for gradual buyer/bank acceptance, printed copies of these certificates will continue to be provided free of charge until season 2011.

Digital Authentication

AWTA uses a VeriSign digital signature to secure our Electronic Certificates.  Changing the file details or altering its content invalidates the digital signature.  Hence it is a key step in establishing that the electronic document has been delivered intact and unaltered. It is present in every Electronic Certificate that we distribute.  Refer to the “Digital Security of Electronic Certificates” fact sheet on our website for information on how to verify the digital signature of our Certificates.

An online verification facility is also available on our website through which Certificate holders can check that the documents they have are valid.  Refer to the “Online Verification of AWTA Certificates” fact sheet on our website.

Fee Increases and their Effective Dates

Effective from January 1st 2011, AWTA will be charging;

  • All clients a fee to print Presale Certificates and Guidance Reports.
  • Buyers a fee to print Presale Certificates from our Post Sale Printing service.

These fees are publicised in our annual Raw Wool Testing Fees and available from our website
(see www.awta.com.au/en/Home/Fees/ )
