Measuring Tufts Per Unit Lenght

APPLICATION

:

The method is applicable to textile floor coverings in all forms which have tuft or loop pile surfaces.

PRINCIPLE

:

The length of textile floor covering occupied by 40 adjacent tufts in each direction (parallel and normal to the selvedge) in measured. From these measurements tufts per unit area is calculated.

SAMPLES REQUIRED FOR TESTING

:

Approximately 1m square of carpet.

INTERPRETATION

:

Results obtained should be compared with those listed in the relevant specification.
