Price Premiums for Staple Measurements

The measurement of Staple Length & Staple Strength is a well-established part of Australia’s wool selling system and has been so for over a decade.

Some years ago the then Australian Wool Corporation regularly analysed auction data to determine what premiums, if any, were attracted by the availability of Staple Measurements.  With the demise of the AWC these analyses stopped and for a number of years no data was available.

Consequently, since the 2002/03 season, AWTA Ltd has regularly commissioned the Woolmark Company to undertake a formal, detailed analysis of premiums and discounts applied to additionally measured wools.  These analyses are available here.
