Sam Jusva: former Maintenance Controller, Melbourne Laboratory
In the October 2002 newsletter we included a profile on Sam Jusva, who retired due to ill health on 5th June 2002. Sam had worked for AWTA Ltd for almost 30 years before his retirement.
Unfortunately Sam contracted cancer, and the prognosis for its successful treatment was unfavourable. Nevertheless Sam confronted his situation with the courage and determination that had been his hallmark for his entire working life with AWTA Ltd.
Sam lost his battle when he passed away on 29th November 2002. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know him. His legacy through his work with AWTA Ltd and the wool industry will remain as his monument.
The memory of Sam’s life, wholly dedicated to his family, his friends and his own personal achievements, will remain in the minds of all who knew, loved and respected him.
Kaye West: former Clerical Officer, Melbourne Laboratory
Kaye West joined AWTA Ltd in August 1980 and worked in the Data Processing Department of the Melbourne Laboratory on a full-time basis until she resigned in February 1996. Kaye then rejoined the Company as a casual Clerical Officer in October 2002.
Kaye was a constant source of enjoyment for all of her work mates throughout her employment. Her full-time employment spanned a very difficult period for the Company, which was then growing very rapidly, and the data processing systems were very much under strain because of this growth. This period required a great deal of effort from all employees to ensure that the Company met its customer’s requirements and Kaye’s sense of humour constantly provided her fellow employees with some relief from the pressure.
Kaye passed away, suddenly and unexpectedly, on 29th January 2003. We join with all her numerous friends in offering our condolences to her family.
