Vegetable Matter in Australian Wool
This booklet, produced by AWTA Ltd, provides a useful reference for the identification of the major Vegetable Matter Types which occur in Australian wool. The need for correct identification and standard nomenclature descriptions of vegetable matter is important and becomes even more so if the industry is to move to a system of selling based on measurement and standardised descriptions alone.
Rather than reprinting the booklet it was made available in PDF format, sized to print on A5 paper so that in can be printed and inserted into an A5 ring binder. These versions can be downloaded as a high resolution file (31 Mbytes - a fast connection is required) or a low resolution file(0.73 Mbytes).
However, unprecedented demand for the publication has encouraged us to produce three new improved versions, each containing bookmarks, and designed for a specific display mode.

Printed copies of the last edition of the handbook are still available and can be obtained from the nearest AWTA Ltd Office.
A much earlier publication with hand drawn illustrations of "Vegetable matter in the NSW Wool Clip" was produced in 1943, by E.J. Milthorpe from the Central Wool Committee's Testing House, then located at 17 Randle St, Sydney. A scanned electronic version of this historical text is now available from the link provided below.
