New IWTO Test Certificate formats

IWTO recently approved changes to the definitions of Wool Preparation Categories that will come into effect on January 1st 2008.  These changes allow for two categories of Grower Lots and change the definitions of Bulk-Classed Lots.   As AWTA Ltd is required to identify the Wool Preparation Category on IWTO Test Certificates through words (e.g. “Classed Grower Lot”) and by the use of the Test Number suffix, new formats will be introduced to comply with IWTO Regulations.

1.    How are the changes reflected on IWTO Test Certificates?

Any lots declared as “Other Grower Lots” will be identified with the new “D” Test Certificate suffix.  Bulk Class definitions have been refined so that the “Q” suffix will no longer show “Bulk Classed Lot – Quality Managed” but rather “Classed Bulk-Class Lot”. Examples of the new IWTO Test Certificate formats are shown below.

2.    What changes are there to IWTO Combined Certificates?

IWTO Test Certificates showing “Other Grower Lot” (“D” suffix) or “Classed Bulk-Class Lot” (“Q” suffix) can be included in IWTO Combination Certificates and will be displayed on the right-hand side of the certificate as shown in the example below.

3.      Are Objectively Matched Lots (OML’s) affected?

The definition of OML’s is unchanged – individually tested Classed Grower Lots (WPC = ‘P”) that meet tolerances for Yield, VM and Micron.  Other Grower Lots (“D” suffix) or Classed Bulk Class Lots (“Q” Suffix) will not be included in OMLs.
