Pesticide Residue Analysis
|
AWTA Ltd has entered into an agreement with the CSIRO’s Textile and Fibre Technology division in Geelong to provide a new Pesticide Residue Analysis service. The collaboration involves CSIRO conducting chemical residue analysis in their Belmont Laboratory on AWTA ‘s behalf.
The analyses quantify the residual level of chemicals remaining from lice, fly and ectoparasite treatments under the IWTO Draft Test Method 59-04. Concentrations of individual chemicals are reported and summarised as total concentrations of Organophosphates, Organochlorines, Synthetic Pyrethroids, and the Insect Growth Regulators Diflubenzuron & Triflumuron. The report also indicates if the residual concentrations comply with current European Union Eco-Labelling standards (99/178/EC).
The service is available from January 1st 2008, and can be requested when bales are cored, or after yield and micron measurement is complete. Testing can be conducted on single sale lots or composite samples blended from multiple sale lots (up to 10). Wool is taken from sample material that remains after testing at one of our Raw Wool Laboratories and sent to CSIRO TFT for analysis. CSIRO’S data are then returned to AWTA Ltd’s Melbourne Laboratory to be issued as Guidance Test Reports within 7 days from the receipt of sample or request
An examples of the new report for a single sale lot is shown below.
