2000

AWTA Ltd introduces Laserscan as its primary method for the certification of the diameter characteristics of wool.

2001

Australian Wool Services Limited (AWS) is established. The Australian Wool Research and Promotion Organisation (AWRAP) is converted into a Corporations Law company limited by shares. Australian Wool Services Limited (AWS) is the holding company for two subsidiary companies - Australian Wool Innovation Pty Ltd (AWI) and The Woolmark Company Pty Ltd (TWC). AWI manages the entire proceeds from the wool levy while TWC continues as a promotion and marketing company funded by income derived from “The Woolmark” and from sales or royalties derived from earlier levy funded developments.

The Managing Director Mr D J Ward OAM stands down and Mr M A Jackson is appointed Managing Director Designate.  Mr Ward retires from the Company in July.

2002

The AWTA Board appoints a new management team under the leadership of a new Managing Director, Mr M Jackson.

 

The Fremantle laboratory is relocated to a new facility at Bibra Lake.

 

AWI separates from AWS, becoming a fully independent public company limited by shares.

2004

AWTA and Wool Equities Limited sign an agreement to purchase all of the shares in the New Zealand Wool Testing Authority Limited (NZWTA). NZWTA is the leading independent testing and measurement service for individual fleece, greasy and scoured wool in New Zealand.

AWTA Textile Testing relocates to a new facility at 191 Racecourse Rd, Flemington, Victoria.  Diversification into the testing of non-textile products leads to the Division being renamed “AWTA Product Testing”.

2005

After a period of illness Mr A McGregor AO retires as Chairman and is replaced by the Deputy Chairman, Mr D McGauchie AO.

2006

Wool Equities Limited enters into an agreement to sell its fifty per cent shareholding of NZWTA to the AWTA Ltd, giving the Company 100 per cent ownership of NZWTA.

 

AWTA Ltd and Jiangsu Inspection Corporation (JSIC) advise that they are opening a new product testing laboratory in China.  The Joint Venture, JinAo Testing, will be located in Nanjing

2007

Woolgrowers vote for AWI and AWS (TWC) to become one company.

The Australian Wool Industry celebrates 200th anniversary of first wool exports from the Colony.

AWTA Ltd celebrates 50 years service to the wool industry.

Lempriere (Australia) Pty Ltd celebrates 150 years in wool trading.
