Relationship to the Dark and Medullated Fibre Test

A presale test for dark and medullated fibre can be requested but at this stage this is not certified information as an internationally recognised test method is still under development.

It must be noted that the presale test and the DMFR declaration are complementary methodologies for providing guidance to buyers of Australian wool. The presale test on its own is not sufficient, except in some clearly identifiable circumstances, to provide buyers with a reliable estimate of the risk of contamination.
