What will be the impact of the DMFR scheme on the wool market?
Buyers will judge if this information is important to them and, over time, decide if the absence of this information affects the price they are prepared to pay. It is too early to know whether premiums/discounts will appear for the provision of DMFR Ratings when offering wool for sale.
In the short to medium term, it is likely that buyers will continue to purchase the same wool types as they always have. The big difference is that they will be able to easily identify those wools that have come in contact with exotic breeds (DMFR Rating 6) or those wools with low levels of risk (DMFR Ratings of 1 and 2).
