Fibres from Other Animals?

While much of the emphasis is on preventing contamination via exotic sheep breeds, the potential for contamination from other animal breeds should not be ignored.

Management of such sources of contamination should be part of the on-farm quality control system employed during shearing and classing.

Melanin pigments occur in  hair fibres from many animals used or present on wool producing farms, including dogs, goats and horses.
