The Wool Industry in Australia and overseas includes a large number of diverse organisations. Many of these represent particular industry sectors, whilst others have been established by government legislation.

Every industry has its own jargon and the wool industry is no exception. The various industry organisations have, in most cases, become recognisable from the acronyms used to abbreviate their names. For new entrants to the industry, and also for many existing participants such as wool growers, the purpose of the organisation behind each acronym is often not well understood.
