AWTA Ltd is in the business of disseminating information about the Australian Wool Clip by converting objectively measured data into meaningful information. This information is summarised on IWTO Certificates and various Test Reports.

The expression of data as information invariably involves some calculations to transform the data into the required information. For example, the IWTO Core Test Certificates include specific information such as Wool Base, Vegetable Matter Base, Mean Fibre Diameter, Schlumberger Dry Top & Noil Yield, IWTO Scoured Yield, Japanese Clean Scoured Yield and Australian Carbonising Yield. However, all this information is derived by calculations from measured data such as sample weight, oven dry weight, grease weight, bale weight etc.
