Are there any limitations when testing Length & Strength?
Shorter carding length wools can generally only be measured for staple length as the staples may be too short to be gripped and broken during the measurement of strength.
Generally, if growers indicate that they wish to take advantage of the premiums offered for additionally measured lots, their wool selling broker will select and nominate appropriate lots from within their clip.
Staple measurements, in particular Staple Strength, now account for approximately 25% of the price offered at auction, making this measurement second in importance to Mean Fibre Diameter.
