Are test results for wool classed using OFFM generally accepted for trading purposes?
The short answer is no. However, the terms for exchange of ownership are ultimately subject to the agreement of the buyer and the seller.
The precison of on-farm measurement of fibre fineness characteristics is currently unacceptable to most commercial purchasers of wool.
In any event, the on-farm testing systems simply do not provide sufficient information to accurately value the wool. At the moment, growers would be ill advised to sell their wool solely based on on-farm measurements.
