Background Information
Brendon started his career in the wool industry in South Africa and has since travelled to, and worked in, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Australia.
After obtaining a B.Sc (Hons) degree at the University of Port Elizabeth in 1995, he started work as the Laboratory Controller at Wool Testing Bureau S.A. (WTBSA). His roles within WTBSA were varied and covered all sectors of the business, ranging from testing issues to equipment design and manufacture. After seven years with WTBSA Brendon had the opportunity to relocate to Napier, New Zealand to take up the position of Technology Development Manager with New Zealand Wool Testing Authority Ltd (NZWTA) in early 2002. Here he dealt mostly with blue-skies technology and was also heavily involved in the planning, construction and establishment of Wool Testing Authority Europe (Ltd), which is based in Northern Wales (UK).
In November 2006 Brendon again had the opportunity to relocate, this time to Sydney to take up his current position as Sampling Operations Manager with AWTA. In this role he is responsible for the supervision and conduct of sampling operations at wool stores throughout NSW and QLD. Three (3) Sampling Controllers, based in Sydney, Goulburn and Brisbane, report to Brendon and together they supervise approximately 40 Sampling Officers.
